Since April 12, 2022, Georgia has allowed permitless carry. The license itself is still issued by the Whitfield County Probate Court for five years and is worth having for travel to reciprocity states. Shooters 16 and older need a Georgia hunting or fishing license or a Lands Pass and must complete the range safety video certification through GoOutdoorsGeorgia; the Forest Service ranges at Sumac Creek and Chestnut Mountain take payment on recreation.gov, and the county-run ranges set their own fees.
